the story of the hangar
The Hangar was created to house the roasting and wholesale operations of Flight Coffee way back in 2012. As is the Flight way, setting up shop in a car park was step one. Some warm macrocarpa went in to line the walls, an espresso bar on one side, a roaster down the back and the Wellington-based flagship was born. The Hangar became a place to share how we roast with people who were drinking our coffee, somewhere we could geek-out.
The Hangar and Flight grew side by side until Flight moved into a bigger parking lot in Garrett Street in November, 2013. This allowed space for a kitchen to be built and since then The Hangar has grown from being a roastery and coffee shop into a fully-fledged eatery, with banging coffee and an ever changing menu that offers twists on the traditional brunch and lunch classics.
Keeping it fresh and evolving is what the game is all about for us at The Hangar, and creating an experience is what drives us. Whether you’re after the latest offering from Flight Coffee; expertly brewed by our barista hot shots, a Pulled Bacon Benedict, or even a classy setting for a private function at night – give us a shout.
